Twinspot goby
Signigobius biocellatus
The Twinspot Goby (Signigobius biocellatus), also known as the Crab-eye Goby, is a small goby found in the tropical western Pacific. Its most distinctive features are the two prominent, yellow-ringed eyespots on its dorsal fins. Irregular brown markings help it blend into the seabed, while small blue spots decorate its dark pelvic and anal fins. This species typically inhabits sandy or silty bottoms near coral and rubble. It feeds by taking mouthfuls of sand and sifting out small invertebrates. Individuals may be seen alone or in pairs near sandy burrows. The ROMBLON CRITTER LIBRARY documents underwater photography and verified marine-life observations, with dive-site information shared only when appropriate for public display.
