RBR DIVE SITE

BANG-OG 1

BANG-OG 1 follows a sandy slope scattered with coral heads and larger reef boulders at depth. The transition from open sand to clustered reef structures supports small fish and a variety of reef-associated macro life. Nudibranchs may be found among algae, corals, and crevices; earlier dive notes also describe seasonal gatherings of certain sea slugs. Shallower sandy and algae-covered patches have yielded hairy shrimp and other miniature subjects. Because the slope descends into deeper water, depth, gas supply, and no-decompression limits require careful planning. Search slowly along reef–sand boundaries for nudibranchs, then explore shallower algae and sand for hairy shrimp and other cryptic subjects. Allocate time according to the dive plan rather than extending a deep stop for a particular animal. Various nudibranchs, Pikachu nudibranchs, hairy shrimp, small crabs, reef fish, and sand-dwelling macro life.
