CANYON 2
Small coral heads, sponges, and soft corals rise from the sandy slope at CANYON 2, creating a series of miniature reef communities—the inspiration for its Chinese name, “Ghost Apartments.” Camouflage is the defining theme here. Some nudibranchs blend almost seamlessly into soft-coral branches, while tiny crustaceans and pygmy seahorses may shelter nearby. A slow, observant dive reveals details that are easy to swim past. At night, activity around the sand and sponges adds further possibilities. Subjects and their habitats should be observed without touching or repositioning them. Soft-coral mimicry and tiny reef details are the main subjects. Look closely at coral branches, sponges, and the sand–reef boundary for environmental macro and behavioral photography; night dives offer a different perspective. Ghost Melibe and other camouflaged nudibranchs, Bargibant’s pygmy seahorses, hairy shrimp, small crabs, and nocturnal shrimp.
