SAND BAR 1

At the bend of a white sandbar, SAND BAR 1 combines fine pale sand, seagrass, and patches of vivid green algae. The algae provide habitat and food for leaf sheep sea slugs, while the sand shelters expertly camouflaged cuttlefish, small fish, and crustaceans. What first appears to be an open seabed rewards time and attention. Currents around the sandbar can change with tides and seasonal winds, so the dive guide selects the entry point, route, and whether conditions are suitable on the day. Leaf sheep among green algae and cryptic life against pale sand are the signature subjects. Natural light and uncluttered sandy backgrounds can be effective, but currents must be assessed before any photography plan. Leaf sheep sea slugs, other algae-associated sea slugs, saddleback anemonefish, cuttlefish, sea stars, hairy shrimp, and sand-camouflaged fish.
