SAND BAR 2
SAND BAR 2 features a pale sandy slope dotted with small coral patches, sponges, and tunicates—shelter and feeding grounds for miniature marine life. Cryptic shrimp may be found around sponges, while colorful nudibranchs can appear along the sandy and rocky margins. Earlier site notes also record seasonal gatherings and reproductive behavior among tiny nudibranchs. Currents across the sandbar vary with the tide, so the route and timing should always follow the guide’s assessment of conditions. Camouflaged shrimp around sponges, colorful sea slugs, and previously recorded seasonal behaviors offer rewarding subjects for patient macro photography. Doto nudibranchs, Pikachu nudibranchs, other sand- and sponge-associated sea slugs, hairy shrimp, sponge-dwelling shrimp, and algae-associated shrimp.
